Students Lead the Way
In March 2018, Social Club prospective students discussed a variety of topics they would like to explore in the fall. Students were full of ideas and have a lot on their minds about today’s world. Shared experiences were discussed in relation to the topics and students were open and honest. We worked on forming trust among the students by creating a safe zone for them to discuss difficult topics.
Tacos & Technology

Student interest in the topic of technology during the first pilot class led to a fantastic lesson for our second meeting in May. While eating lunch students viewed a Technology Prezi and then used the Talking Quill to share their thoughts in a structured Socratic Seminar.
The Talking Quill allowed for students to express their thoughts on the topics in a systematic, mature manner. Behavior was exceptional and students were respectful of each other and the rules.

Rethink your Drink
Students participated in a demonstration in which they guessed how much sugar was in commonly purchased drink. Shock prevailed when students were shown visual, tangible amounts of sugar in each drink. We discussed the importance of drinking water and drinking sugary drinks in moderation.
